A man was shot and killed in a targeted shooting in Huntington Station, Long Island, prompting a police investigation and search for the suspect.
HUNTINGTON STATION, NEW YORK — Police are investigating a deadly shooting after a man was found fatally shot behind a deli in Huntington Station on Long Island.
According to Suffolk County Police, the incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. near West Pulaski Road behind One Stop Deli. Officers responded after a 911 call reported a man had been shot in the area.
When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures at the scene before transporting him to Huntington Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators have described the shooting as a “targeted incident,” suggesting the victim may have been specifically attacked rather than caught in random violence. However, authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and detectives from the Suffolk County Homicide Squad are leading the case. At this time, no suspect has been arrested, and officials have not disclosed a possible motive.
The area surrounding the deli was temporarily cordoned off as detectives gathered evidence and reviewed surveillance footage. Nearby residents and business owners reported a heavy police presence following the incident.
